feb 2021 – work from home – monthly mood boards

Posted: 3rd February 2021

The first of our “monthly mood boards” is all about your home office space. Working from home is something a lot of us have had to adapt to, and even after almost a year of this we are still learning how to make flexible working “work” to its full potential. Here are some examples we at Boaz Studio are LOVING, with little tips to help you feel more productive.

  1. (image: @crateandbarrel) A comfy chair is a must. Make sure you are sitting at the correct height for your desk and computer screen, don’t want any injuries! NHS guidelines suggest that your elbows should be by the side of your body so that your arms form an L-shape at the elbow joint. Your knees should be slightly lower than your hips, your lower back supported, and have your computer screen at eye level. To read more on this, visit the NHS website.

2 Siamese cats sit on the desk. Plants decorate the walls, floor and desk.

  1. (image: @gentlefawn) PLANTS & PETS. What a beautiful combination. Having plants around the workplace has been proven to help increase productivity and clean the air, amongst many other benefits. Pets may cause a little distraction, but they certainly help to reduce stress!

A green pegboard on a wall has a clock and stationary pieces pegged to it. It sits over a wooden desk and metal chair.

  1. (image: @bhgaus) A pegboard organiser is a perfect flexible storage tool and display space. They’re easy to make and can be any size to fit your space.

A tiny desk space in a corner of an attic. Natural light beams through the skylight window.

  1. (image: @thenordroom) A cozy idea for a home office to fit an awkward space. If you have a dark corner you wish to convert into a workspace, make sure you include plenty of light.

Shelves of books and family photos frame a large open window that sits above an L shaped wooden desk.

  1. (image: @homestoloveau) A window brings in tons of natural light and fresh air when open, (okay maybe not the best idea to open the windows in British February). This improves productivity and regulates the body’s natural circadian rhythms (sleep-wake schedules).

A very contemporary desk concept. The workspace is hidden inside minimal white cupboards, coloured bright blue inside. The doors are open to reveal it.

  1. (image: 2LG Studio) A pop of colour, and a creative way of separating work and home. Tuck everything away at the end of the day and it will be like you’ve just come home from the office.

"We used Boaz Studio as we needed some help reimagining our lounge after moving in just before having our first child. Our house wasn't working for us and our toddler. Stephen is so approachable and friendly and really listens. He's keen to understand what your needs and wants are as a client and then has an amazing way of turning that into something beautiful, practical, and personal. I am so impressed and would highly recommend Boaz Studio. On top of that, they're really professional, and communication is easy."

"Stephen and Alice worked with us to produce a design for the interior of our coffee house - their ability to bring together all of our different needs and ideas into one unified concept was fantastic - they have knack for drawing out the most efficient use of whatever space they're working with. First class."

"Boaz provided layouts and concept interior designs for our new home, and the results were fantastic: they managed to somehow provide us with something completely unexpected that was completely our style and what we wanted. We feel so much more confident managing the building work and decorating now, and can't wait to see it finished. Highly recommended."

"We worked with Boaz Studio to plan our two-storey extension and associated alterations to our house. We couldn't have done it without them, they were brilliant! Their thoughtful designs really made the most of the spaces, not only in terms of furnishings and decor but also really useful advice about positioning for doors and windows. Stephen and Alice are both fabulous at what they do and really lovely to work with. Highly recommended!"

"Boaz Studio came in to advise on the complete refurbishment of the communal space here at Sunley Orford House, a purpose-built block of quality retirement housing in the centre of Truro. Having listened thoroughly to the design brief he provided well thought out advice on materials, colours and decoration with options that not only bring a more contemporary feel but will revitalise the space for the future. His thought and attention to detail was appreciated by all involved."
