A recent project for the Boaz Studio portfolio, “Scatho’s” gelateria in the coastal town of Portscatho, hopes to be launching very soon! The design features somewhat humorous subtle nods to the buildings former use, a local butcher’s shop, and the bright pastels of gelato ice cream.

A new high-end residential project for Boaz Studio, we are working closely with this client, lighting designer, and architects to create a high spec retreat in a converted coach house with new extension. The client’s particular taste for a hybrid of contemporary minimalism and rustic antiques has been the driving force at the concept stage. This derelict coach house building is being converted into a luxury home. We configured the layout of furniture, bathrooms and a kitchen across the two floors to make best use of the unconventionally shaped space.

108, a popular coffee shop in Truro, was looking to refresh their interiors with bold colours, as well as space to display local art and products for sale. Our proposal features a flexible wall display made up of wooden tiles, boxes, and shelves, as well as additional and reconfigured seating for larger groups to sit together. This café is all about community and good coffee!

We have been working with this client in Truro for a year now, and everything is finally being installed over the next few weeks. The Victorian part of the home has been kept traditional, but with bold black walls in a monochrome palette. The transition from old to new surprises you with a bounty of natural light as you progress through the house to the new modern extension at the rear.

Our client had recently moved into a converted barn on the Lizard, but most of its character had been stripped out during the 00’s. They loved bold pattern and colour, but wanted a minimalist backdrop. We re-worked the layout of the two floors to make for a better flow and use of space.

Boaz Studio travelled up to Design Central South West design show to record a live talk for The Interior Design Business Podcast. The talk, with Stephen of Boaz Studio, Charlotte of Chestnut Interiors, and Susie of Tessuto Interiors, was on making the career change into interior design. It is available to listen on Spotify, Apple, Stitcher, Castro, or Google Podcasts, and soon to watch on YouTube. We also made lots of valuable new connections with suppliers at Design Central South West design show and looking forward to specifying some very beautiful products in our projects.

Stephen had a great evening at The Royal Cornwall Museum for the Cultivator Conversations event. We were one of the Cultivator supported businesses asked to present a Pecha Kucha style 3 minute presentation about Boaz Studio, it was such a great way to find out about the creative companies based in Cornwall and what they do. We then got to explore the museum and view the fantastic work of artist Natalie Day who spoke to us about her inspiring work. With the final year of EU funding coming to an end (thanks Brexit) and no support coming from the UK government it was great to see how the support of Cultivator has helped so many small businesses in it’s time.

We have some VERY exciting news to reveal to you all soon… watch this space!
